Ruby Brown, 82, formerly of Travelers Rest, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, N.C. Born in Cumming, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Luther and Lily Owens Jett and was the wife of the late Jesse Dean Brown. Mrs. Brown worked many years at J.P. Stevens-Slater, was in the Ladies Sunday School Class and was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church.Surviving are her sons, Steve (Wanda) Brown and Don Brown; a sister, Grace Norris; brothers, Jr. Samples and Robert Samples; grandchildren, Kim (Kevin) Wise, Scott (Sherry) Brown, Mary Ann (Bo) Hylton, Connie Brown, and Stevie Brown; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Ray Brown; and five sisters.Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at Solid Rock Baptist Church, with burial at Grandview Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary.The family will be at 910 White Horse Road Ext., Travelers Rest, SC 29690.The Howze Mortuary, Travelers Rest, is in charge of arrangements.
