Moulton<!--Moulton-->Roy Lantham Goodwin, age 89, born in Lawrence County April 28, 1918, passed away Sept. 28, 2007, at NHC Nursing facilites in Moulton after a long battle with Alzheimer&#8217;s disease. Funeral for Mr. Goodwin will be held at Lawrence Funeral Home today, Sept. 30, 2007, at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour before the service. Rev. Lavanul Sherrill and Chaplain Brad Eades will officiate. Military honors will be held at the gravesite, Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Goodwin, his parents, Arthur Goodwin and Lillie Ray Goodwin, two sisters, Maria Brewer and Clara Terry, and three brothers, Earl Goodwin, Irwin Goodwin and Robert Goodwin. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Moore and husband, Cecil, of Milton, Fla.; one sister, Christine Newman of North Riverside, Ill.; one brother, W.J. Culver of Moulton; and four grandchildren.Mr. Goodwin served in the U.S. Naval Service during World War II from September 1943 until December 1945, where he was awarded eleven battle stars. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the employees at NHC and Hospice of the Valley for the extra support and care given during his illness. Pallbearers will be family members.
