Obituary of Rose-Emily-Nix Martin


-> Richmond Hill - Rose Emily Nix Martin, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 at Hospice Savannah. She was the daughter of Rose McKenzie Nix and Victor Hugo Nix. Her husband, Aimar Altimott Martin preceded her in death. Born in Tampa, FL., she grew up in Garnett. SC. and lived in Richmond Hill, GA. most of her life. She was a member of the historical Bryan Neck Presbyterian Church, serving as church pianist for many years. She also served the church as Ruling Elder and Clerk of Session. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Bryan Neck Presbyterian Church Cemetery Association. She was an active member of the Bethel Burton Friendship Club, The Bryan County Home Demonstration Club and worthy matron of the Martha Mary Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was member and held leadership roles in the Richmond Hill Garden Club, which she assisted in organizing, The Savannah Area Council of Garden Clubs, The Oleander District, The State Garden Club and the National Co uncil of Garden Clubs. She achieved the distinction of Master Judge Emeritus through her Garden Club affiliation. She is survived by her four children, Mary Donati of Richmond Hill, Rose Marie Donnelly (Dick) of Savannah, Elizabeth Wilson (Bob) and Aimar Victor Martin (Beverly) of Richmond Hill; five sisters, Naomi Garbade of Beaufort, SC., Joan Drew of Fairmont,, NC., Marian Vickery of Point Pleasant, SC., Bill McCormack of Ridgeland, SC. and Tena McCormack of Ridgeland, SC.; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel in Richmond Hill. Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 18,2 005 at the Bryan Neck Presbyterian Church, Keller, with Rev. Gil Clary and Dr. David Long officiating. Burial: Bryan Neck Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
