Obituary of Rosa-Lee Thompson


THOMPSON Rosa Lee Thompson, age 88, formerly of Bridgeport, departed this life on Friday, May 2, 2003, in Harrisburg, N.C., where she relocated several years ago. She was born on September 7, 1914, in Hobgood N.C., Halifax County, to the late Annie Bryant Sherrod and William Thomas Sherrod. Rosa Lee was married to the late James F. Thompson and out of that union they had nine children. Rosa Lee was a retired seamstress from the Princess Pat Bathing Suit Co. She will be truly missed and eternally loved by her family and friends. She leaves to mourn five sons: James S. Thompson of Seattle, Robert E. Thompson of Atlanta, Richard N. Thompson and Thomas E. Thompson of Bridgeport and Maceo F. Thompson of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Carol E. Cannady of Harrisburg; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her daughters, Mildred Thompson, Doris L. Freeman and Elaine T. Harris. Friends may greet the family on Saturday, May 10, 2003, from 10 to 11 a.m. in Mount Aery Baptist Church, 73 Frank Street, Bridgeport, with Dr. Rev. Anthony Bennett presiding, The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. and interment will immediately follow the service in Park Cemetery, 620 Lindley Street, Bridgeport. Arrangements entrusted to the George J. Peterson Funeral Home, 1041 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport.
