He was born and reared in Nashville, TN. The oldest of three children of the late Ruby Rosetta Turner. He was lauded Professor Emeritus at Florida A&M University where he chaired the Department of Visual Arts, Humanities and Theatre. Davis is survived by one survived sister, Sylvia A.
