Obituary of Ronald-Lee Miller


Ronald Lee Miller January 18, 1922 - February 9, 2010 Mansfield Center - Ronald Lee Miller also known as Big Ron, Dad, Grandpy and Grandpa died at his home in Mansfield Center on February 9, 2010. He was born in Old Town, ME on January 18, 1922. As a young man, Ronald was proud to serve in the 101st Airborne Division during WWII. To his family, friends, and country he was a strong man and hero who was recognized with the Purple Heart, and Silver Star among other well deserved awards. He is quoted as saying, "I did what was asked of me and did it to the best of my ability. It was an undertaking for freedom like no other in the history of our nation. I am proud that I was able to serve the greatest country that God ever made… I will always cherish what my parents taught me: DUTY - HONOR YOUR COUNTRY." Following the war, Ronald married Vivian Inniss and they raised a family of seven children. He ran Miller Brothers Construction for many years and was proud to be a Mason at Eastern Star Lodge #44 where he held many leadership positions. In 2007, Ronald was named Mason of the Year in recognition of his service and dedication. He was predeceased by his wife, Vivian and daughter Judith. He leaves behind two daughters, Ronnie Lee and Kim; four sons, Douglas, James, Rick, and Kevin; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a brother Audrey and a sister Norma. His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday Feb. 12th between 5:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. The Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00am followed by interment with military honors in Mansfield Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to Shriners Hospitals For Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 or to Eastern Star Lodge #44, P.O.
