Roland A. Simard Fitchburg Water Dept. retiree, WWII vet; 84 LEOMINSTER Roland A. Simard, 84, of Leominster, died Tuesday, July 15th, at the Keystone Center in Leominster. Mr. Simard was born in Fitchburg, October 14, 1923, a son of Joseph E. and Bertha (Chouinard) Simard, and had been a lifelong resident of Fitchburg before moving to Leominster in 2000. Mr. Simard is survived by one son, Joseph W. and his wife, Ternia Simard of Westminster; two daughters, Anna Mae L'Ecuyer of Fitchburg, Linda M. Simard of Gardner; three grandchildren, Joseph R. Simard, Trevor Simard, Jaron Simard; four sisters, Rita Leonard, Theresa Lomme, Lillian Lawrence, Marion Webster. Mr. Simard was the brother of the late Stella Courtemarche, and Lucille Rivers. Mr. Simard worked for the City of Fitchburg for 33 years as a Water Systems Foreman in the Water Department. Mr. Simard served his country in the US Army Air Corp. during WWII from 1944 to 1946. Mr. Simard was a member of the American Legion of Fitchburg, and was an avid hunter. SIMARD A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday at St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m., Thursday at the Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg.
