Mrs. Roccarol "Roc" Linda Kay Reed Curry SPARTANBURG, SC-- Mrs. Roccarol "Roc" Linda Kay Reed Curry of 134 Stribling Circle, Spartanbug, SC, departed this life into eternal rest on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at her home after an extended illness. She was born May 11, 1947, in Lancaster, SC to the late Ed and Bernice Adams Reed. Survivors include a devoted husband, William David; and a loving son, William Allen Curry of the home; a daughter, Kimberly Denise Curry of Charlotte, NC; and two sisters of Lancaster, SC, Emma Blackmon and Pauline (David) Williams. Other survivors are sisters-in-law, Mary (Willie Lee) Russell and Wanda Gail Curry of Pacolet, and Michelle Seegars; and brothers-in-law, Fred O. Curry and Coleman Eugene Curry of Pacolet; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and; God-daughters, Jayda Barton and Olivia Sartor of Spartanburg, Ashlei Stevens of New York, and Chasisty McKenzie Brown of Orangeburg, SC; God-son, Lee Sartor of Spartanburg; and a close friend, Mary W. Deku of Spartanburg also mourn her loss. Extended family include, Mr. Roy and Roberta Henderson, Mr. Renell and Pearl Atchison, Mrs. Wessie Stephens and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, sorority sisters and friends who will always cherish her memories. She was predeceased by a sister, Gerrie Maxine Collins; and brother, Eddie Adams Seegars. Mrs. Curry was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where she was an active member of the Greeter's Ministry, Senior Missionary Ministry, Sunday School and Chairman of the Yard Beautification Committee. She was a dedicated member of the Spartanburg Heritage Committee. She was a Silver Star and Life Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and voted a 2006 Honorary Soror of the Year for the Epsilon Beta Omega Chapter. She attended the public schools in Lancaster, SC and was a proud graduate of Barr Street High School. Her goal was then to attend college, so she matriculated to South Carolina State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in the teaching of History and later during her career obtained a Master's in Education. Further studies were pursued at the University of SC-Upstate and Converse College. Her professional career of 41 years was with the Spartanburg School Districts and retired after 30 years from School District 3. The family is at the home.
