ObituaryMAY 29, 1928 - DEC. 18, 2008Robert W. White, a resident of Estero, Florida passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Joanne's House (Hope Hospice) in Bonita Springs, Florida after lingering illness.He was born May 29, 1928, in Stamford, Connecticut. Bob was raised in the Stamford area and enlisted in the US Army at the young age of 17, in 1945. He became an Engineer and served proudly and honorably with the occupying forces in Germany immediately following WWII, and at various stateside duty stations, retiring in 1955 with the rank of Sergeant First Class at Ft. Dix, NJ.Subsequent to retiring from the Army, Bob joined the Weil-McLain Company and resided in Mount Holly, New Jersey where he raised his family. While working at Weil-McLain, he attended Temple University under the GI Bill. After 35 years of dedicated service, he retired from WM in 1990 as the General Manager of the Philadelphia Branch and moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 1996, he moved to Estero.During his career Bob was a member of numerous professional organizations that supported the boiler, heating and cooling industry. Robert loved to play golf and was a member of the Country Creek Golf Club in Estero. His favorite golfer was "Tiger". He was the Chairperson of the Country Creek Charity Fund raiser for three years and dedicated many hours to this organization. He was an active member in the Elks. Bob loved to travel, tell jokes, watch his beloved Eagles and just have fun. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.Survivors include his current wife of 8 years, Doris (Mikesell) Campbell-White, originally from Ohio, his daughters Patricia Ann (Mark) McLaughlin of Kingston, Pennsylvania and Charline White, of Mount Holly, New Jersey; son Robert W. (Nona) White of San Francisco, brother Raymond Kasten of Hamben, Connecticut; step children, Barbara (Gary) Craun, Nancy (Craig) Bulea, Daniel Campbell, Michael (Diane) Campbell; his grandchildren, Mathew (Nicole) McLaughlin, Scott McLaughlin and Colleen (Bill) Sgaggereo, Craig Bulea, Thomas Bulea, Donald Bulea, Erin (Kevin) Bulea, Danielle Campbell, Nicole Campbell, Christy Campbell, Amanda Campbell, Christopher Campbell, Billy Caines, Savannah Caines, Dawn (Michael) Dulin, Melissa (Robert) Hammond, Jonathan (Anne) Craun, David (Jennifer) Craun and 14 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his first wife Rosetta (nee Valente, deceased in 1990) of 45 years, and wife Helen of 8 years and his parents Mary E. Donch and Robert Lee White.In keeping with his wishes, Bob will be honored with a Military Service in the spring of 2009 in New Jersey and his ashes will be interred at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey.
