Obituary of Robert W. Jackson


Robert W. Jackson 1926 - 2011 SPRINGFIELD - Robert William Jackson, 85, of 1475 Roosevelt Avenue, departed this life on Sunday, October 30, 2011, at Wingate at Springfield. Born in Windburg, SC, he moved to Hartford, CT in 1941 and Springfield, MA in 1955, to work at the Pioneer Valley Refrigeration Company from which he retired in 1979. Prior to that he was employed by The Hartford Buick Company. Mr. Jackson was a member of New Life Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and Trustee, and as a member of the Mens Ministry. He also served the former Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of West Springfield as the assistant chairman of the trustee Board and chairman of their Deacon Board. Pre-deceased by a brother, David Lee Jackson, he is survived by his beloved wife Rose Nell (Black) Jackson; eight children, Barbara Jackson, Terri Jackson, Jewel (and Rick) Rogers, and Cheyenne Johnson all of Springfield, Sandra (and Albert) Green of Indianapolis, IN, and Anthony, (and Joan) Jackson Sr., David (and Missi) Jackson Sr., and William Little, all of MA; a sister-in-law, Winnie Walls of Springfield; 18 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchild. The calling hour is 11 a.m. to noon Monday at New Life Calvary Baptist Church followed by the funeral at noon, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Harrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
