Obituary of Robert-Terrell Jackson


Funeral for Robert Terrell Jackson, 72, of Decatur will be Saturday, March 13, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Buddy Champion and the Rev. Archie Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Jackson died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at his residence. He was born Nov. 27, 1931, in Lawrence County to Rayburn C. Jackson and Helen Counts Jackson. He retired from NASA after 32 years as an engineer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as lieutenant. He graduated from The University of Alabama. Mr. Jackson was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Murray DeMoss Sunday school class. He was a golfer and an avid gardener. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Jackson; two daughters, Kim Hollaway and husband Mike of Decatur and Deanna Matonic of Franklin, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Tammy Knees of Paducah, Ky.; one brother, Don Jackson of Moulton; three grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren. Pallbearers will be Howell Puckett, Billy Howell, Ken Myers, John Hambrick, Mike Hambrick, Ed Tease, Jim Hurst and Harold Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Murray DeMoss Sunday school class. Memorials gifts may be made to First Baptist Church of Decatur or to Hospice of the Valley.
