Obituary of Robert-Spaulding Johnson


SARASOTA/SENECA FALLS - Robert Spaulding Johnson, 87, of Seneca Falls, died Friday (July 15, 2011) at his home. In keeping with Robert's wishes there will be no prior calling hours. The memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday (Jul 22) at the Calvary Chapel in Seneca Falls. The Rev. Raymond Torrey, Pastor Of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Springbrook Cemetery in Seneca Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Gideons International, Post Office Box 140800, Nashville, Tenn., 37214 Robert was born June 29, 1924, in Orange, New Jersey, the son of the late Earl A. and Lois J. Spaulding Johnson. He graduated from Clarkson College in 1946 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree. He worked for New York State Electric & Gas Corporation for 40 years. He was a member of the former 1st Baptist Church in Seneca Falls, now known as the Calvary Chapel. He was a former adult Sunday School teacher as well as trustee, church treasurer, and building fund chairman with the church. He was a former president of the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce. He was a Licensed Professional Engineer and a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers.He survived by one son; Glenn R. Johnson and wife, Anne Johnson of North Richland Hills, Texas; two granddaughters; Cheryl Nowakowski of Crystal Lake, Ill.; Laura Johnson of St Peters, MO.; and one grandson; Leonard Nowakowski.He was predeceased by his wife Shirley Bartlett Johnson, (April 30, 2004); his daughter Nancy Johnson, (October 14, 1994); and his brother Earl A. Johnson, Jr., in (November, 1994).He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior and lived the Christian life according to Biblical principles. His Bible studies at home and in the church were enjoyed by many students over the years. While he will be missed here on earth, we are confident he now resides in Heaven. Praise be to God!
