GUILDERLAND Robert P. Alston, 81, of Guilderland, died Friday, May 9, 2003 at his home. Mr. Alston was born in North Albany and lived in Albany and Guilderland all his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was also employed by the New York Central Railroad and Conrail for 45 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Railroad Golf League at Western Turnpike Golf Course, and also a charter member of the Guilderland Elks. Mr. Alston is survived by his wife Patricia Kuehn Alston; his daughters, Barbara Alston of Albany and Beverly (Rob) McClellan of Bethel, Conn.; his sons, Robert P. Robbie Alston Jr. of Albany, and Major James W. Alston, U.S.A.F. of Rome, N.Y.; and his grandchildren, Max, Matthew, Ben, and Mitchell. He was predeceased by his sisters, Marian Bowles and Julie Leicht; and his brothers, Edward, John, James and William Alston. Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Monday morning at 8:30 and 9:30 in St. Matthew's Church, Mountainview St., Voorheesville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-8 p.m. Interment services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
