Robert (Bob) Newton Davis II, of Port Orange, passed away on September 28, 2009 at the age of 87. A celebration of life will be held October 10th at Cardwell Funeral Home, 3571 S. Ridgewood Ave., Port Orange at 11am with David and Deborah Stork officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at 10am until 11am. Bob was born in Pittsburg, PA, and moved to Florida after his discharge from the Navy, at the end of World War II, where he, and his first wife Fran, raised their three children. He worked for Florida Gas Company. He will be missed by his wife, Annette; his daughter, Kathy Ellis (Eric); sons, Robert (Barbara), William, step-son, John Ware; and nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, step-daughter, Brenda Grabacki, and his first wife, Fran. Bob was a proud World War II veteran, having served in the Navy in the South Pacific on the USS Flusser and the USS Kenneth Whiting. He maintained his friendships with his fellow ship mates by attending reunions hosted in various parts of the country, visits he appreciated and enjoyed. Bob enjoyed all traveling, especially visits with his children and their families in Canada and California. He was a proud and loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed the beach, music, and working in his yard and keeping the outside of his home "shipshape". Bob had a wonderful zest for life, enjoying parties and all social events. He was a kind, loving, generous person and he will be greatly missed by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to the Council on Aging Respite Program, because the program added pleasure and quality to his life. Donations can be sent to COA Respite Program, P.O. Box 671 Daytona Beach, FL 32115. Arrangements are under the careful supervision of Cardwell Funeral Home.
