Robert Neil Johnson, 80, Sarasota, died March 24, 2006. He was born Oct. 10, 1925, in Cleveland and came to Sarasota in 1988 from West Bloomfield, Mich. He retired as media director for the Oakland County School District in Oakland County, Mich. He received a bachelor's degree from Ohio University and a doctorate from the University of Nebraska. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He ushered for the Van Wezel for 16 years, was a volunteer for the Southeastern Guide Dogs, and a member of the Bay Village Retirement Community. He was a Presbyterian. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Marilyn; daughters Caron Burns, of Lansing, Mich., Christy Janicki, of New Baltimore, Mich., and Jeanne Helzer, of Lake Orion, Mich.; a son, Theodore R., of North Fork, Calif.; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bay Village Retirement, 8400 Vamo Road, Sarasota. Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Chapel, is in charge.
