Robert B. Mack Valparaiso Robert B. Mack, age 89 of Valparaiso, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2004 at the Horton VNA Hospice Center. Born at Mother Well Scotland on August 25, 1914, son of the late John S. and Johannah Brodie Mack. Resident of Valparaiso since 1978, former resident of Gary and Merrillville. 41 year retired employee of US Steel Gary Works, retired January 31, 1977. Member of East Side United Presbyterian Church in Gary; and First Presbyterian Church in Merrillville. WWII Veteran Air Transport Command. Survived by two sons, John R. (Barbara) Mack of Valparaiso and Robert E. (Mary) Mack of Memphis, TN; sister, Nan Guffin of Valparaiso; three grandchildren: Haley and Taylor Mack and Ryan Mack; and good friend, Angeline Whittaker. Preceded in death by his wife Jean Mack, and two sisters, Janet "Jeanny" Hood and Margaret Black. Memorial Service Saturday, January 24, 2004, 10 a.m. at the Dykes Funeral Home, 2305 North Campbell St., Valparaiso, IN with Rev. William Hudson officiating. Cremation, Calvary Crematory.
