GOFFSTOWN -- Robert M. Barrett, 77, died Aug. 19, 2009. He was born in Gloucester, Mass., on Oct. 9, 1931, to David Barrett and Margaret (Barry) Barrett. Raised in Somerville, Mass., he was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and attended the University of Maine at Orono. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a Manchester-area resident since the mid 1960s. He proudly held dual citizenship with Ireland. For many years he was employed as an asbestos worker for Pipefitters Local #6 of Somerville and was also a truck driver with Teamsters Local #25. He was a bartender and former co-owner of The Irish Pub in Manchester. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Cathedral parish and a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Family includes his wife, Fran Barrett of Barnstead; his children, Cheryl (Barrett) Acker of Manchester, Deborah (Barrett) Cutulle of Saugus, Mass., Robert M. Barrett of Tewksbury, Mass., Ryan M. Barrett of Manchester and Erin (Barrett) Fluck of Manchester; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, John Barrett of Everett, Mass.; a sister, Margaret Quinn of Melrose, Mass.; as well as nieces and nephews. IN HIS LIFE: He was pre-deceased by siblings David Barrett, William Barrett, Barbara Barrett, Judith Barrett and James Barrett. SERVICES: Calling hours will be on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the McHugh Funeral Home, 483 Beech St.. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Cathedral, corner of Pine and Lowell Streets, Manchester. Burial will be at noon in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen. Donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or on-line at www.dav.org. Condolences may be offered at www.mchughfuneralhome.com.
