Robert-Lewis Davis, born in 1928, spouse of Ruth-Dillman Davis, son of Charles and Allie, father of Leslie, Laura, Jeff, Mike and Linda Sue, died on October 23, 2010 at 82 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
DAVIS, ROBERT LEWIS, 82, of Louisville, passed away October 23, 2010 in his home. He was born in Louisville to Charles and Allie Davis. Bob was a US Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a longtime member of the Louisville Home Builder Association and was retired from building and developing after many, many years. He was a member and deacon of Walnut Street Baptist Church, where he guided building missions in the northwest USA and the Ukraine for 10 years. Giving his support and helping the "Spirit Riders" of Walnut Street Baptist Church to achieve their goals to sustain useful, productive lives and loving our God gave him a great sense of pride. He proudly served as their "Harley Papa." Bob was an avid history buff and enjoyed conversations with his friends on current affairs and financial matters. He loved traveling and recalling his adventures. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Dillman Davis; and daughter, Linda Sue Davis. He is survived by his wife, Jennie Lee; sons, Mike (Debbie Wooten) and Jeff Davis (Nancy); daughters, Laura Davis and Leslie Merrihew (John); stepdaughter, Debbie Vandertoll Akers (Bob); stepsons, Jeffrey, John (Mary) Jay Jr. and Judson Vandertoll (Jeannine); grandchildren, Allie , Michele and John Merrihew, Sabrina and Cricket Davis; stepgrandchildren, Jessica, Sara, Judson, Hunter and Sophia Vandertoll; and step great-grandson, Marcus Vandertoll. Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Highlands Family Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. The celebration of Bob's life is 1 p.m. Tuesday at Walnut Street Baptist Church, 1143 S. 3rd St. Entombment is at Calvary Cemetery. Luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in the form of contributions be made in Bob's memory to Walnut Street Baptist Church "Spirit Riders," 1143 S. 3rd St., Louisville, KY, 40203.
