Robert Lee Jenkins, Jr., 83, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010.He was born April 20, 1927 in Citronelle, Ala., son of the late Robert Lee Jenkins, Sr. and the late Mamie Covington.Survivors include his wife, Edna M. Strickland; and five step-children, Joyce and Jessie Landford, Jean and Emanuel Howard, Lily and Leon Lowe, Carolyn and Joseph Batski, and Catherine and Ronald Massey; all local; one niece, Lisa Finch; and two nephews, Steve Dhena and Michael Hartzog. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Mary Merle Fidler, and a sister, Joann Dhena.Mr. Jenkins served with the US Navy from 1945 to 1950, and was also in the Merchant Marines. Robert retired from the Marine Industry, where he worked as a Boat Captain for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing Gospel and Blue Grass music.
