Obituary of Robert-L. Owens


Owens, Robert L. SOUTH BETHLEHEM Robert Lansing Owens, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 31, 2008 after a brief illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of William and Margaret (Luther) Owens. He was an electrician for Conrail for 40 years, and was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 65 years. He attended and was a member of the South Bethlehem United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing with model trains, and playing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his three daughters, Karen P. Wyatt (John) of Austin, Texas, Laurie L. Tryon (Timothy) of Berne and Lisa D. Appleby Jr. (Ernest) of Coey-mans Hollow; also six grandchildren, Loren and LaDawn Wyatt, Grace Tryon, Jessica, Amanda and Gabrielle Appleby and predeceased by his grandson, David Tryon. He also had one great-grandchild, Alyssa Wyatt. He also is survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Shannon of New Port, N.C.; Marion Decker (Joe) of Albany and Shirley Stover of Albany. Also, surviving are many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m. at the South Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Willowbrook Ave., South Bethlehem. Calling hours will be Friday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211. See website.
