Funeral service for Robert L. Johnson, 76, S. Beach Street, Daytona Beach, who died August 23, 2006, at Halifax Medical Center, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Gainous Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Mt. Ararat Cemetery following the service. Calling hours are from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 1) at the funeral home and Saturday from 12 noon until time of service. Mr. Johnson was born in Gainesville and moved from there to this area in 1973. He was a retired roofer. He loved people and walking. Survivors include his seven sons, Rubin, Willie James, Robert, Jr., Joseph Johnson, Germaine Herrell and Timothy Herrell, all of Daytona Beach, and Everett Johnson, Gainesville; three daughters, Valencia Johnson, Daytona Beach, Barbara Dyer, Riviera Beach, and Glenda Fairley, Gainesville; three brothers, James Johnson, Wildwood, Charles Ford, Jacksonville, and Alton Ford, Gainesville; six sisters, Christine Hines, Highspring, Fla., Esther Jean Hall, Jacksonville, Burnell Davis, St. Petersburg, Evelyn Nobles, Versal Bell Williams and Lillie Mae Freeny, all of Gainesville; 27 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
