TUSCALOOSA Robert L. Davis, age 49, of Tuscaloosa, departed this life on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ulysses Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park with Rollins' Mortuary directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.Robert joined the Tuscaloosa Fire Department on June 16, 1986. He was promoted to Apparatus Operator on January 20, 1996. He obtained his Basic EMT license in December 1995. His last assignment was at Station #11. During his 22 years of service, he was also assigned to Station #7 and Station #3.He was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Davis; grandson, Roderick Davis, Jr.; brother, George Davis; grandmother, Ms. Carrie Harris; father, Mr. James Davis; and father-in-law, Mr. Dock Mims.He leaves to cherish his memories his son, Roderick (Tyeisha) Davis; one granddaughter, Nyeisha Davis; two grandsons, Rodney Davis and Jarvis Davis; his mother, Mrs. Lizzie Davis of Duncanville; mother-in-law, Mrs. Julia Mims of Tuscaloosa; five sisters, Mrs. Sherry (Joseph) McMikle, Ms. Betty Halbert, Mrs. Dorothy (Richard) Arnold, Mrs. Patricia (Otis) Shaffer, and Mrs. Mary (Curtis) Gaskin, all of Tuscaloosa; six brothers, James Davis, Jr., Billy Davis, Reginald (Evelyn) Davis, Terry Davis, Frank (Dorothea) Davis, and Michael (Michelle) Davis, all of Tuscaloosa; girlfriend, Ms. Annetta Odum of Moundville; aunts, Dr. Leana Ward, Ms. Emma Nickerson, Mrs. Delois (Gerald) Brown, Mrs. Doris (Luke) Thames, Ms. Janie Walker, and Ms. Mary (Roosevelt) Threatt; one uncle, Mr. Jessie Davis, Jr. of Flint, Michigan; eight nieces; one nephew; and a host of cousins, other relatives, friends, and co-workers.
