Robert Johnsonformerly of VestalRobert Johnson, 88, formerly of Vestal, died at Rose Arbor Hospice Facility in Kalamazoo, Mich., Friday, March 9, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 2001. He is survived by his son, Brian, daughter-in-law, Linda, and grandson, Michael, all of Kalamazoo, Mich.; three sisters-in-law and a brother in-law, Eleanor Johnson, Binghamton, Richard and Elizabeth Salvinski, Hacienda Heights, Calif., and Angela Salvinski, Binghamton; his caring nieces and nephews, Doug Johnson, John, Carl and Patricia McLaughlin, Mary Jane Paterniti, Cheryl Liddic, James, Joanne, Joyce, Douglas and Greg Salvinski, and Barbara Hudgins. He was a World War II veteran serving in the European Theater where he earned a Bronze Star with cluster and Purple Heart. He was also a retiree of IBM and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Vestal, N.Y. A longtime resident of Vestal and native of Binghamton, he moved to Kalamazoo where he lived with Brian, Linda and Michael following the death of Helen.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.
