Stonington - Robert Johnson, formerly of Pawcatuck, passed away on March 8, 2014, at Bride Brook Health and Rehabilitation Center in Niantic, at age of 95.Born in Preston, he was the son of the late Alice E. and Albert R. Johnson. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret M. (McElligot) Johnson.Bob will be sadly missed by his family, Robert A. Johnson and Antoinette of Westerly, and their children; Trisha Johnson and Michelle of Griswold; Robert J. Johnson and Michelle of Weston, and their three children; Carolyn Gencarelli and George of Westerly, and their two children; his son, Raymond W. Johnson and Martha of Pawcatuck, and their two children; Peter Johnson of Pawcatuck; and Kimberly Norcia and Sam of Pawcatuck, and their three children; his daughter, Lynn Coes and James of Niantic, with whom he resided, and their children; Jeanne Boudreau and Rejean of Westbrook, and their two children; Suzanne Desjardins and her daughter of Madawaska, Maine; and Brian Coes and Jennifer of North Attleboro, Mass. He was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great pride in all of their accomplishments. Bob is also survived by a brother, Albert Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mae Grover and Florence LaVallie.Bob was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving in World War II as a tech sergeant in the Asiatic Pacific. After his military service, he worked as a service manager for Miller Ford, Seaport Ford, and Whaling City Ford, until his retirement in 1983.He was an avid bowler and enjoyed many years of bowling in leagues at Alley Katz Bowling Center in Westerly. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends.His family wishes to thank his many caregivers at VNA and Bride Brook for the wonderful care and kindness shown over past few months.
