ObituaryRobert (Bob) Hugo Johnson of Cape Coral, FL, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather died at his home after a long illness on Monday (September 21, 2009). He was born August 4, 1926 in New Britain, CT the son of the late Hugo Johnson and Irene Dacey Johnson. He was a graduate of New Britain High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army during World War II and served in Frankfurt, Germany where he met his loving wife of 62 years Aenne (Ann) Mueller Johnson. He later graduated from the Hartford Institute of Accounting becoming partner with Joseph M. Guinan, CPA. He was an avid fisherman and after his retirement in 1986 moved to Cape Coral, FL where he continued to enjoy his love of fishing. Bob always maintained a presence about him that made all who met him immediately like him. He was also a long standing member of the Elks Club and the American Legion.Bob was predeceased by a younger brother William Johnson and a son Douglas Johnson. Surviving him is his wife Ann Mueller Johnson, of Cape Coral, FL., two children: daughter Lynda Johnson Carter, MSW, of Loudon, NH, son and daughter-in-law Danny and Elizabeth Johnson of East Haddam, CT. Grandchildren: Joshua Carter and his partner Rebecca Skane, Jonah Carter and his wife Therese, Matthew Johnson, and Rachel Johnson, great grandchildren: Ben Carter, Olivia Carter, and Joshua Carter, II. Also surviving him is his sister Elizabeth Sawyer, of Harwinton, CT., his brother Allan Johnson of Plainville, CT., his favorite cousin Ruth Orr of Bristol, Ct, and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday (Sept. 30) at 11:00am in St. John the Evangelist Church 655 East St., New Britain, followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway E, Cape Coral, FL 33909. Arrangements are being handled by The Ahern Funeral Homes, Inc.
