Obituary of Robert Johnson


JOHNSON, Robert Valentine, 86, of Dade City, died after a long battle with emphysema Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at Florida Hospital of Zephyrhills. A native of Logan, Ohio, and son of Theodore C. Johnson and Alma H. Spohn Johnson, he and his wife, Fran, moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in 1950 and to Dade City, Fla., in 2002. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired contractor. He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Dade City. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he inspired his children to appreciate music, aeronautics and automotive repair. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Frances Kelch Johnson; and four children, Patricia Humphrey of Arlington, Virginia, Robert L. Johnson of Peachtree City, Georgia, Pamela Cordle of Wilmington, N.C., and George "Bill" Johnson of Zephyrhills. His seven grandchildren include Sean Humphrey, JoAna Johansen, Elizabeth Gleason, Nicholas and Katelyn Cordle, and Sandra and Robert Hansen, along with three g reat-grandchildren. A memorial service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gary D. Logan officiating. Burial will be in Logan, Ohio.
