ROBERT E. JOHNSON Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) September 22nd, 1921 October 4th, 2006 Bob passed away peacefully with his wife at his side, at Sherbrooke Community Centre. Bob was born in Manchester, England and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1959. He served as a Royal Engineer in the British Army in Italy, North Africa and India from 1941-1946. He returned as a Major and served in the Canadian Militia until 1972. Bob worked at the University of Saskatchewan as a Personnel Officer from 1966 until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed spending his winters in South Carolina where he was an enthusiastic golfer. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2001 and spent his remaining years in a nursing home. Bob is loved and remembered by his wife of 57 years, Gladys; their children, Ian (Michele) of Saskatoon, Peter (Phyllis) of Abbottsford and Patricia of South Carolina; and grandchildren, Chesley, Meghan, Tony, Aaron, Alyssa, Nathan and Courtney. The Memorial Service will be held on October 10th, at 2:00 p.m. from St. John's Columbarium (816 Spadina Cres. E.) with Elaine Presnell presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Sherbrooke Foundation Inc. (401 Acadia Drive Saskatoon, SK S7H 2E7) or Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc (1405 Faulkner Cres Saskatoon, SK S7L 3R5).
