SARATOGA SPRINGS Robert John Jack Duval, 89, of Clinton St., passed away Monday, July 24, 2006 at Saratoga Hospital. Born on June 16, 1917 in Chicago, Ill., he was a son of the late Alfred and Ethel (Kennedy) Duval and attended School No. 3 in Saratoga Springs until attending Morgan Park Military Academy in Chicago. He worked for several years at Schenectady Locomotive and also worked for Joseph J. Hazard at Hazard TV, pioneering the initial television installations, later branching into the music and vending company. He operated a youth center at the site of the former Congress Theater in the early 1960s known as the Spa Youth Center and was a member of the Cohoes Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge in Marathon, Fla. An avid scuba diver in the early 1950s, he discovered a Bateau in Lake George and was the first scuba instructor in Saratoga County. Following his retirement, he wintered in Marathon, Fla., enjoyed fishing and took frequent weekend deep sea fishing trips in the Dry Tortugas, where he caught many award-winning fish. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Robert John Duval Jr., who died in 2000; one grandson, Christopher J. Duval; and a brother, Alfred Duval. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary K. (Voskanyan) Duval; one son, David A. Duval and his wife Maureen Seney Duval; a daughter, Marianne Duval Still and her husband John T. Still Jr.; and another daughter-in-law, Sharon Duval; six grandchildren, David A. Duval Jr. and his wife Christina Duval, Mary Jo A. Duval, Robert John Duval III, Laurie Leu, Dr. Shannon Leu and Carol E. Still; two great-grandchildren, Laura E. Duval and Robert P. Duval; one sister-in-law, Elsie Duval of Divernon, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews, including Kay McGinnis, John Duval, Alfred Duval and Jerry Duval of Ill. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway by the Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue.
