BALLSTON LAKE Robert J. Williams, 87, of Ashley Drive, previously of Bethpage, L.I., N.Y., beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (Radcliffe) Williams, died, Saturday, December 27, 2003 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Born on September 19, 1916 in Scranton, Pa., he was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Edwards) Williams. He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and attended the University of Scranton (formerly St. Thomas College). Mr. Williams served as a sergeant in the 204th Army Air Forces base unit during World War II and was bestowed with the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Medal and the Victory Medal. Serving the airline industry for over 40 years, Mr. Williams retired from Lufthansa Airlines where he had been sales manager in NYC and Albany for 22 years. He had previously been employed by VARIG Airlines in Manhattan as regional sales manager and earlier had been employed by Northeast Airlines in Boston. Prior to serving in the Army Air Forces, he was a reporter at the Scanton Times. With a zest for travel, Mr. Williams served as past president of the New York Bons Vivants travel organization and a member of SKAL International, the largest travel organization in the world. An avid sports enthusiast with a passion for college sports, he also partook in several sports, particularly tennis, bowling and especially golf. Devoted father of Deborah A. LeLievre of Schenectady and the late James LeLievre, Linda L. Lewis and her husband Craig of Ballston Lake, Susan A. Williams of Clifton Park, Cynthia A. Nemer and her husband Peter of Saratoga and Robert T. Williams and his wife Lisa; cherished grandfather of Brian, Jeffrey and Jennifer LeLievre, Keith, Sarah and Christin Lewis, William and Jack Nemer and Ryan, Rhys and Evan Williams; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park, thence to St. George's Episcopal Church, 912 Route 146, Clifton Park, where at 10:00 a.m. the service will offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment with military honors will be held in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saratoga National Cemetery Honor Guard Association, P.O. Box 140, Schuylerville, NY 12871, in memory of Robert J. Williams.
