Harrington, 79 years old, of Leominster, died Saturday, October 15, 2011, in his home surrounded by his loving family.He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Savina S. (DiPaoli) Harrington; his two daughters, Heidi A. Sullivan and her husband, Mark of Natick, and Holly M. Gram and her husband, Jeffrey of Milton; his sister, Ruth Harrington of Fitchburg; four grandchildren, Zoe, Zachary and Mia Sullivan of Natick, and Kip Gram of Milton; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Elizabeth (Harrington) Hugo, his sister, Sr. Anne Harrington, and two brothers, Thomas Harrington and Paul Harrington.Bob was born in Boston on November 22, 1931, son of Thomas and Mary (Walsh) Harrington, grew up in Fitchburg and had lived in Leominster for the past 49 years. He graduated from St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School in Fitchburg, Worcester Junior College and Fitchburg State College.He taught at Leominster Trade High School for 30 years, and was an engineer at Tucker Housewares, Inc. in Leominster for 30 years.Bob was a member of St. Anna's Church in Leominster.Bob was an avid golfer who was a member of Oak Hill Country Club for over 30 years.He was happiest in his home surrounded by his loving and extended family and his four grandchildren.The last decade of his life was spent courageously battling cancer under the care of the wonderful Dana Farber community and his loving wife. Bob was a strong, quiet, gentle man who always had a smile and a great sense of humor.HARRINGTON -- A funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster with a mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster Street, Leominster. Burial will be in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
