Robert J. Brennan, 62, of Concord, passed away at home Sunday, September 21, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born in Shirley, Mass. on February 6, 1952, to CSM James J. and Nellie (Simpson) Brennan. He grew up in a military family and lived the typical life of a well-traveled Army brat. Robert joined the Army in 1969 and proudly served his country with a field artillery unit during Vietnam. When he was discharged in 1971, he went to school for welding, eventually perfecting his craft as a master welder/fabricator. It was this expertise that landed his name in Easy Rider Magazine for his assistance in the fabrication of a three cylinder motorcycle engine. He was a devoted and caring husband, father and friend and he adored his grandchildren. Robert enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, golfing with his Dad and spending time with his family. He also loved his animals, especially his dogs, Jasper and Chance who never left his side throughout his illness. He was a practical joker, the funny guy, the life of every party and he could make people laugh even when they didn't want to. Robert is survived by his wife, Lynne (Colby) Brennan; his father, CSM James J. Brennan; his children, Jessica Brennan, Scott Brennan and Vicki French; grandchildren, Lauren and Hannah French and Alastriana Brennan; brothers, James and Arthur Brennan; sister, Diane Purcell; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members. He was predeceased by his mother, Nellie (Simpson) Brennan and his step-mother, Constance (Mclean) Brennan. Family and friends are invited to attend a committal service with military honors on Monday, September 29, at 2 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers donations in Robert's memory may be made to DAV (Disabled American Veterans). The Cremation Society of NH, Boscawen office, is assisting the family with arrangements.
