BRENNAN--Robert J., age 71, beloved husband of 49 years to Helen Brennan, son of the late James and Madelyn Brennan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2008. Bob was a 1954 graduate of Bishop Dubois High School, NYC, where he was an all-city basketball player, and a 1958 graduate of Manhattan College, Bronx, NY. He enjoyed a great career; most recently retiring in 2004 as President and CEO of The American Institute For Foreign Study, as well as a thirty year career in public accounting with Ernst & Young; retiring as a Partner in 1988. Most recently, Bob had also been serving as Chairman of The Board of Trustees of Richmond, The American University in London and also Chairman of the Board of Metro International. He was also an active volunteer in the business and education community having served on the boards of NAFSA -The Association of International Educators, The Advisory Council for The Schools of Arts, Sciences and Education as well as the School of Business at Manhattan College. Bob also served on The Business Council of Fairfield County and was a past President of The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was honored for his devotion to education as a recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Business Administration-Richmond, the American International University in London in 1995 and a Fulbright Award for Contributions to International Education in 2003. Bob had an immense love for travel with his wife Helen and his family, reading, all sports, singing, music, clowns, candles, flowers, children, and God. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons; Bob and his wife, Andrea, and Kevin and his wife, Anne, his four grandchildren; Kevin and his wife Cassandra, Corinne, Bobby and Andrew, his brother; Jim and sister-in-law, Barbara and his sister-in-law; Mary Ellen. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law; Joan and Mary, his brotherin-law; John, many nieces, nephews, good friends and colleagues. Bob was predeceased by his brother John in 2004. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Bob's life will be held on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 10:30am meeting directly at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Dr., Fairfield, with interment to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends and family may call on Sunday, February 24, 2008 from 3-7pm., in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd., Fairfield.
