Elliott, Robert HayesMay 2, 1939 - July 9, 2010Robert Hayes Elliott, 71, of Sarasota, formerly of Cincinnati, died July 9, 2010.A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the South Shore Community Church in Sarasota. Toale Brothers Funeral Homes, Colonial Chapel, is handling arrangements. Survivors include daughter Elizabeth Rampley of Atlanta; son Tom of Sarasota; sisters Macie McGee of Sarasota and Kate Backe of Princeton, N.J.; five grandsons,Charles, Nicklaus, Samuel, Jack and Robert; and daughter-in-law Jennifer.Bob graduated from Miami of Ohio University and began work in the construction industry. By 1968 he had started his own firm, which developed four successful developments in the Cincinnati area. In 1977 he moved his family to Sarasota where he headed development of Bent Tree. In 1983 Bob took the position of president of the Bay Venture Corporation and was entrusted with the management and development of Palmer Ranch. Today this development is considered one of the premier master-planned developments in the nation. This development includes Prestancia and the TPC golf course at Prestancia.Bob was also active in the community and served on the boards of directors for Southtrust Bank, YMCA, Asolo Foundation and First Step.Memorial Contributions may be made to South Shore Community Church, 1899 S. Tuttle Ave., Sarasota, FL 34239.
