->Lyme - Robert Hains Johnson, 85, of Joshuatown Road, Lyme, died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, as the result of a fall.The son of the late Brigadier General Bruce Johnson, USAF, and Ruth (Hains) Day, he was born March 8, 1926 in Binghamton, N.Y. He studied at New York Military Academy, Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y.; Cornell University, Ithaca; and the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell. He served in the Army Air Corps as a staff sargent with the Army of Occupation, in Germany.Following a marketing career with Lever Brothers and Johnson & Johnson, he was a financial advisor with Smith Barney in Princeton, N.J., and Merrill Lynch, in both Princeton and Vineland, N.J.An enthusiastic environmentalist, Bob was active in the Wild & Scenic River program, Ducks Unlimited and many other environmental causesHe is survived by his wife, Margaret (Rathbun) Scheide Johnson, of Lyme; four children, Carol Johnson (David Schindler), Pacific Palisades, Calif.; Bruce F. Johnson, and Paul A. E. Johnson (Sera), of Sandpoint,Idaho; Neil H. Johnson (Rosemary), Cherry Hill, N.J.;five grandchildren, Nicole and Alexander Schindler and Hains, Grace and Charles Johnson.
