Robert Eugene (Bob) Woodward GREER, SC-- Robert Eugene Woodward, better known to his friends as Bob, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Bob was born in Greer, SC, on December 8, 1930. He was the son of the late Willie O. Woodward, Sr. and Elizabeth Woodward Cash. After thirty-one years in the banking business, Bob retired from his Assistant Vice-President and Office Manager position at Nations Bank's North Main Street location in August, 1992. He started as a teller with the First National Bank and went through four mergers with the bank during his career. He retired when Nations Bank became the Bank of America. In former years, Bob was active in the Sertoma Club. He was a mason and served a term on the Board of Greer Relief, as Treasurer. Bob was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran, a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and Taylors Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Hudson and her husband Bill of Greer; his nephews, Bill Hudson, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Greenville, Barry Hudson and his wife Sherri of Spartanburg, Chris Hudson and his wife Autumn of Lyman, Steve Woodward of Greer and Jimmy Woodward, Jr. of Charleston; his nieces, Donna Brannon and her husband Mickey of Raleigh, NC, Beverly Hudson of Greer and Stacey Langley of Greer. He is also survived by two great-nieces and special friends, Virginia and Clarence Neal of Greer, Marjorie Mitchell of Greer and Sally Auten of Charlotte. Bob was predeceased by a sister, Juanita Hudson; and three brothers, Willie O. (Billy) Jr., Jimmy and Marion (Woody) Woodward; foster parents, Roland and Eunice Genobles; and his beloved pet boxer, Cricket, whom he referred to as his "daughter". Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, April 5, 2010, at Memorial United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 PM Monday, April 5, 2010, at Memorial United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank the staff at National Health Care in Greer, especially the nurses and aides on Unit 1 for the loving care given to Bob for the last two years. Appreciation is also extended to the people from Solaris Hospice who helped care for Bob the last few months of his life. The family is at their respective homes. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 North Main Street, Greer, SC 29650 or to a charity of one's choice.
