ROBERT E. WILLIAMS HAMMOND, IN Robert E. Williams, age 79, of Hammond passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jewel; one daughter, Deborah (John) Yager of Munster; one grandson, Brandon Yager of Munster; two brothers: Oscar (Carol) Williams and Byrd Williams, both of Hudson, IL. Preceded in death by his parents: Byrd and Vivian WIlliams. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 10:00 AM from LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN with Rev. John Kalicky, C. PP. S., officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM. Robert was a resident of this area for 55 years, a retired truck driver from Inland Steel Co., and a bus driver for Empress Casino in Hammond. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War, served as a captain of Crime Watch Beat 1 in Hammond, was a past Master of Garfield Lodge # 569 of Highland, INand a member of the York Rite.
