WHITE ROBERT E. Of Newton, passed away February 19, 2010, after a long illness. Beloved husband of Shirley A. (Kerzic). He is also survived by daughters Susan Matthew and her husband Mike of Naples, FL, Leslie McQuillan and her husband James of Wellesley, Nancy White and Ron Simmons of Natick, son Rob White of Natick, grandson Jim McQuillan of Wellesley, and man’s best friend “Bozo” White. Bob served in the United States Army Air Force in the 385th Bombardment Group during WWII, distinguishing himself by being the recipient of four air medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was stationed at Great Ashfield Air base in England and completed 25 missions over enemy occupied Continental Europe. Upon returning home, Bob opened Bob White’s Service, Inc with gas stations in Cambridge and Boston and became the largest volume AAA service station in Massachusetts. During the 1970’s he entered into the bus business. In 1973 he was awarded the largest portion of the busing contract for the desegregation of the Boston Public Schools and has participated in transportation since that time. He was a principal of a Boston based charter bus company, People Care-iers, Inc at the time of his death. Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA on Thursday March 4, 2010 at 11 o’clock A.M. Guests will move at half past 10:00 A.M. from the Hotel “W”, 515 15th Street NW, Washington DC. It would give the Family great pleasure to have friends unite with them on that occasion, in paying the last respect to the memory of Bob. Overnight accommodations will be provided for guests, by the family, at the “W” Hotel for the evening of March 3.
