Robert E. Whitakerof Groton, formerly of Acton; 54 GROTON Robert E. Whitaker, 54, of Groton,formerly of Acton, passed away unexpectedly onMonday, September 7, 2009.Robert is survived by his mother, Dorothy Whitaker-Fichtner of Boxborough; three brothers, Jack and his wife, Nancy (Harter) of Acton, Brian of Florida, Gary of Boxborough; and two sisters, Darlene of Lunenburg, and Valerie of Boxborough. He is also survived byseveral nieces and nephews, Rhianna Whitaker ofFitchburg, Jordan and Preston Whitaker of Acton, and Lyndsay and Layne Whitaker of Boxborough.He leaves behind two stepsons, Jason and Darin Justason of Pepperell; and his close friends, Sheila and James Wyman of Groton.Robert was an avid outdoorsman who had greatrespect and appreciation for all that nature had to offer.He was very proud of, and deeply involved in, hisNative American heritage.WHITAKER Donations in his name may be made to the World Wildlife Fund.A private family service is planned.
