Robert E. Whitaker of Groton, formerly of Acton; 54 GROTON Robert E. Whitaker, 54, of Groton, formerly of Acton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 7, 2009. Robert is survived by his mother, Dorothy Whitaker-Fichtner of Boxborough; three brothers, Jack and his wife, Nancy (Harter) of Acton, Brian of Florida, Gary of Boxborough; and two sisters, Darlene of Lunenburg, and Valerie of Boxborough. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, Rhianna Whitaker of Fitchburg, Jordan and Preston Whitaker of Acton, and Lyndsay and Layne Whitaker of Boxborough. He leaves behind two stepsons, Jason and Darin Justason of Pepperell; and his close friends, Sheila and James Wyman of Groton. Robert was an avid outdoorsman who had great respect and appreciation for all that nature had to offer. He was very proud of, and deeply involved in, his Native American heritage. WHITAKER Donations in his name may be made to the World Wildlife Fund. A private family service is planned.
