EAST SCHODACK Robert E. Rate, 79, of East Schodack, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Memorial Hospital in Albany after a lengthy illness. Robert was born in Rensselaer and had lived in East Schodack his entire life. He was a printer for Hamilton Printing of Castleton for 41 years, prior to his retirement in 1988. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a life member of the Chandler-Young VFW Post #8162 in Nassau, a member of the East Schodack Fire Co. and a member of the Woodlawn Cemetery Association, also of East Schodack. Robert is survived by his wife, Joan Hayes Rate; his son, Richard (Maureen) of Weymouth, Mass.; a daughter, Rosemary (Joseph Herbst) of East Greenbush, N.Y.; a sister, Bernice Willenbaker of Valatie, N.Y.; his grandchildren, William and Andrew Wagner, Robert and Thomas Herbst, Daniel and Erica Rate; and a great-grandchild, Samuel Luc Wagner. He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Elizabeth Barrett Rate; a son, Joseph, and a daughter, Donna Rate Wagner. Funeral will be held at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St., Nassau on Saturday, April 30 at 10 a.m. Family, relatives and friends are welcome and may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4:00 to 8:00.
