Robert E. Lee, born in 1947, spouse of Lorraine E, father of Linda Lee, Jr and Robert E, died on March 30, 2011 at 64 years old.
Robert E. Lee of Quincy, died March 30, 2011 at Quincy Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 84, and the loving husband of nearly 64 years to Lorraine E. (Johnson) Lee. Mr. Lee was an active member of Christ Church, Quincy, where he was a Warden and member of the Vestry. He also previously served as a Eucharistic Minister, and Director of the Order of Sir Galahad. Bob volunteered his time as a baseball coach for the former Koch Club, and was also a Quincy YMCA church basketball coach in the 1960s and 70s, and a former member of the Adams Heights Mens Club as well as the Telephone Pioneers Club. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and camping. A veteran of both World War II and Korea, Mr. Lee served his country in the U.S. Navy, and was honorably discharged from active duty on Dec 5, 1951 As an Engineer in the telecommunications field, Robert worked for New England Telephone & Telegraph, and later, Nynex. His career took him around the country, which afforded him the opportunity to bring his family with him to experience our great nations heritage. In addition to his devoted wife, Lorraine, he leaves three sons: Robert E. Lee, Jr. and wife Bonnie of Lynnfield, Gary F. Lee and wife Joan of NC, and Kenneth L. Lee and wife Lee Ann of Methuen, and a daughter, Linda Lee Barry and husband Mark Cozzens of Braintree. He is also survived by sisters Phyllis Cassidy and her husband Richard, Virginia Hillier, and a sister-in-Law Alice Lee, all of FL, as well as nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was the brother of the late Alfred and William Lee. His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday, April 4 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ Church, 12 Quincy Ave., Quincy, with the Rev. Clifford Brown officiating. Interment with military honors to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Visiting hours Sunday from 47 p.m. at the Hamel, Wickens & Troupe Funeral Home, 26 Adams St., Quincy Center.
