Johnson, Robert E. "Bob", age 79, of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010, after an extended illness. He was born in Warren, OH, graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1948, and attended Ohio State University. Bob and his wife, Arlene, began wintering in Boynton Beach in 1961 and he later formed Bob Johnson Masonry. Due to his love and passion for the outdoors Bob started and ran a fly-in hunting and fishing lodge in northwestern Ontario, Canada from 1952 to 1972. He was the author of "38 Miles from the Nearest Road", which was his memoirs written for his sons. Bob enjoyed being a member of the Sunday morning tennis group at Quail Ridge and the "Jubileers", and he made many lifetime friends along the way. Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Arlene, he was a loving father to his sons, Jeff (Rusti Lynn) of Lake Worth and Scott (Kristi) of Littleton, CO; adoring grandfather to Ryan, Ashlee, Baylee, Kylee, Samantha, Megan, and Laci. He is also survived by his brother, William (Ruth); sister, Susan (Herb) Happel; and sister-in-law, Marlys Johnson. Bob was predeceased by his mother and father, Elly and William Johnson; brother, Fred and granddaughter, Hallee. Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Service at 1 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, 101 N. Seacrest Blvd., Boynton Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County or Alzheimer's Community Care of West Palm Beach. Arrangements entrusted to Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, Boynton Beach.
