Robert E. "Pappy" Carter, 71, of Okolona, was born June 10, 1932, to the late Charles and Daisy Dunlap Carter in Louisville. He returned to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 15, 2003, at Norton Audubon Hospital with loved ones by his side. Mr. Carter was a retired employee for the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant, with 35 years of faithful service, a member of Okolona VFW Post #8639 and a US Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Rita Virginia Rogers Carter; children, Bobby Eugene, Donnie Lee, Steven Wayne, Linda Sue and Timothy Ray Carter; sister, Nola Roarx; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at family-owned Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks, Preston Hwy. and Brooks Rd., with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may kindly visit from 4-9 p.m. Monday and 1-9 p.m. Tuesday.
