->Waterford - Robert A. Collett, 71, of 270 Boston Post Rd. passed away Fri., May 7, 2010 at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.Bob was born on May 20, 1938 in New London the son of the late Theodore and Eloise Collett.He had been married to the late Rita Marie LaVier Collett in New London on March 13, 1958.Bob was a truck driver for Hendels, Inc. for over 35 years until he retired in 1998.He was known for his love of country music and playing his guitars. His favorite singers were Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings! He owned hundreds of old country albums and several guitars.He is survived by a son Teddy, and five daughters Sue, Donna, Kathy Tammy, Sandy; six sisters Beverly, Carol, Cheryl, Noreen, Sandy and Sheila,and three brothers Jerry, Richard and Bruce; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildern.He also has a very special niece Mechelle Walker Benson who has been a very special part of his life. He loved her like another daughter.Besides his wife Rita, he had also been predeceased by a son Bobby A. Collett and two brothers, Theodore and Norman.Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London.There will be a visiting hour from 5 to 6 p.m. prior to his service.His burial will be private and there are to be no visiting hours.Donations in his memory may be directed to the Hospice of Southeastern CT, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CCT 06360
