Obituary of Robert-A. Jackson


Robert A. "Bob" Jackson, 91, died Jan. 13, 2010, at his residence in Barefoot Bay. He was born in Wyoming, Ohio, and lived in Barefoot Bay for 30 years, coming from Dayton. He worked for the U.S. Government as a cost accountant in the Department of Defense. He served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was the recipient of two Battle Stars. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Sebastian, where he was a choir member, served as an elder, and worked on the membership committee. He also was a member and past president of the Lions Club in Barefoot Bay and Ohio, a member of the Garden Club and Deborah Heart and Lung Chapter of Barefoot Bay. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Edith E. "Jean" Jackson of Barefoot Bay; son, Terry M. Jackson of Jeffersonville, Ohio; daughters, Barbara C. Jackson of Springfield, Ohio, Brenda K. Jackson of Barefoot Bay and Beverly L. Brunka of Vacaville, Calif; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Henrietta Jackson. Memorial contributions may be made to Florida Lions Camp, 2819 Tiger Lake Road, Lake Wales, FL 33898 in his memory. SERVICES: A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 12 at the First Presbyterian Church of Sebastian, with the Rev. Ellie Lea officiating. Military honors by the Sebastian Area Veterans' Honor Guard will follow. Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Sebastian.
