ROB L. WILSON SLIDELL, LA - Rob Wilson, 33, formerly of Freeville, NY died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 18th, 2008, at his home in Slidell, Louisiana. Born August 25th, 1975 in Cortland, NY, he is the son of Paula Wilson (Jonathan) Parker of Freeville, NY and Larry (Penny) Wilson of Newfield, NY. Rob had an older brother, Coby Wilson. He has a brother, Michael Wilson, who is currently on active duty with the Army National Guard in Afghanistan; step-sisters, Rebecca and Cindy Wieland of Newfield, NY; many uncles, aunts, cousins; and, of course, his beloved dachshunds, Matilda Mae and Daisy Mable. Rob was a 1993 graduate of Dryden High School and was an accomplished machinist. He was quickly becoming a proficient golf player by taking advantage of the warm southern weekends to perfect his game. Not satisfied with just one hobby, he also designed miniature radio-controlled race cars and was part of a nation-wide network of RC enthusiasts. Rob developed Juvenile Diabetes at the age of nine, yet he always worked hard and played harder. He somehow understood that life is short and he lived it to the fullest. We have memories of his infectious spirit of adventure, his prankster nature, his quirky sense of humor, his competitive drive and his uncompromising loyalty to friends and family. One of Rob's greatest joys was to create elaborate practical jokes to play on his parents - often with tremendous success! A Memorial Service, officiated by the Reverend Pattye Hewitt, was held on Monday, November 24, 2008, in Slidell, Louisiana. The family invites friends to a reception to share memories of Rob and to celebrate his life on Saturday, December 6, 2008, from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. in his childhood home at 48 Spring Run Road, Freeville, NY.
