January 21, 2009 Rita Wagner Rose, 66, of Manlius, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at University Hospital. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Rita moved to Syracuse in 1968 when she married Eric Rose. She received her bachelor's and master's of Education from Brooklyn College, and was an elementary school teacher for six years before leaving the profession to devote her time to raising her children. She was a selfless, dedicated, and caring wife and mother, and her love for her children and family was evident throughout her life. She played a strong role in their education, always volunteering to chaperone field trips, organize science fairs, and help in school classrooms. When her children grew older, Rita went back to work, first at Fleet Bank and then at Chase Bank. In both places, Rita was a dedicated employee, who formed strong bonds with her customers. Rita was a member of Temple Society of Concord, a former president of the Syracuse section of the National Council of Jewish Women, and she helped found the Discovery Center in Syracuse. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Eric Rose in 2008. Survived by her son, Ron Rose; daughters, Kathy Rose, Suzie Rose, and Shari (Paul) Lindars; granddaughter, Maggie Lindars; and brother, Richard Wagner. Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009, at the Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette St. Friends may visit with the family, 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
