Rita Monique Duguay Jacques, age 75, of St. Eugene, PQ, Canada who resided in Pompano Beach, FL for the last 44 years, died Sunday, January 19, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her five children, Guylaine and her husband Lance Burley, Chantal and her husband Thomas Bagwell, her son Sylvain and his wife Jessica, her daughter Isabel Colescott, as well as her youngest daughter Nancy and her husband Stephen Young. She also was blessed with several grandchildren: Andrew and Julie Stradtner, Arielle Levav, Meghan, Alyssa, Sabrina, and Travis Colescott, Remi, Kirsten, Leland, and Monique Bagwell, Matthieu Jacques, Brayden Bryant, and Nathan, Daniel, and Hope Young. She also had one great-grandson, Julien Stradtner. Before moving to the United States, Rita was an elementary school teacher in Montreal, Canada. Rita was a devoted mother and wife, married for 26 years to Origene Real Jacques until his death in 1988. She spent most of her life taking care of her family, cooking gourmet meals for everyone to enjoy, and entertaining friends and family as often as possible. Neighbours and family always enjoyed hearing her play her keyboard or organ and singing joyfully with all her heart. She set an example for her children and grandchildren to be hard-working, self sufficient, productive individuals and spent several years as part of the Optimist Club. A memorial service is set for Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:30am at the home of Chantal and Tommy Bagwell at 2200 Bay Drive, Pompano Beach.
