Rita Marion Rhiness Funeral Mass for the late Rita Rhiness was celebrated by Monsignor Dave Tramontini at Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Interment of cremated remains at St. Mary's Cemetery. A guard of honour was formed by CWL members of Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption, Linda Robbins, Jessie Clements, Jean Young, Phyllis Arseneault and Rose Moher. The honourary pallbearer was Kim McIntyre and pallbearers were Phil Wlodorczyk, Joe Laverty, Jim Porter, Dave McIntyre, Shawn Hammett and Nancy McIntyre. Rita Rhiness (née Miller) passed away at North Bay General Hospital, Friday, January 21, 2005 at the age of 68 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Wilf Rhiness and Michael Tobin Sr.. Loving mother of Darlene van der Rassel of Toronto, Susan van der Rassel of North Bay, Robert van der Rassel of Ottawa, Michael Tobin Jr. of Toronto and Steven Tobin of Victoria. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Ishmael, Michael, Tyler, Chelsea and Hollee. Dear sister of Robert, Henry, and Gary Miller, all of Toronto, Barbara Phillips (Earl) of Powassan, Marlene Porter (Jim), Marjory "Zita" Hammett (Wayne), Geraldine Miller-Laverty, Donna and Deborah Miller all of North Bay, Jean McIntyre (Dave) of Whitby and Lloyd Miller of Vancouver. She will be sadly missed by her friends, Margi Dorio, Carmen (Zun) Backer, Dora Lajambe-Robitaille, Betty Carroll, Jeannine Hunter and Don McPharland. Predeceased by her parents, James and Agnes Miller, sisters, Claire Bertrand, Theresa and brothers John and Leonard. Rita was born in Mattawa, February 4, 1936.
