Rita Marie Thompson (nee Lemieux) In loving memory of Rita Marie Thompson (nee Lemieux) of Sudbury, who passed away peacefully on Monday November 24th, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Health Centre. Rita was 82 years young. Beloved wife of 55 years of Ken Thompson of Sudbury, loving mother of Claire (husband Henry Fournier) of Val Caron, Denis (wife Joanne) of Ottawa, and Brian of Cornwall. Cherished grandmother of Patrick, Phillip, Jennifer, Kim, Andrew and Corey. Step-grandmother of Amy, Christie and Katie and friend of their mother Pam. Step-great-grandmother of Avery. Dear daughter of Paul Alfred Lemieux and Mathilda (nee Fortin) (both predeceased). Dear sister of Lucia Clément of Sudbury (husband Léo predeceased), of Marguerite (predeceased) (husband Paul Dubuc of Sturgeon Falls), Wilfrid Lemieux of Sudbury (wife Kay), Aldora Martel of Sudbury (husband Fred predeceased), Marie Clément of Lively (husband Aurèle predeceased), and Robert (predeceased) (wife Suzette Philippe of Alban). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and her very special friends Helen Smith and Essie Byrne. Rita worked at Edward Grain Limited from 1939 to 1949, and briefly at Birk's Jewelers in the mid-sixties. A social butterfly, Rita was always active in the community. She belonged to a number of clubs including the Ottawa Valley Club, Club 1 1 1, the Jubilee Club, the Sudbury Senior's Centre, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 76). She dearly cherished her involvement with the Interlink Choir. Rita also participated in other community organizations namely the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, the Youth Bowling Council and the local Right to Life movement. A devout Roman Catholic, she attended Christ the King Church and was a member of the Catholic Women's League. Rita lived the lessons taught by Jesus on a daily basis as a caring shepherd and as a good Samaritan. Those who crossed her path will remain forever touched by her spirit and her love for life! Resting at Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street Sudbury Relatives and Friends may call between 2 and 9 pm Friday November 28th. Prayers at 3pm followed by a memorial service at 7:30 under the auspices of the Ladies' Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Branch #76 Sudbury. Funeral mass at Christ the King Church 30 Beech Street, Sudbury Saturday November 29th 2003 at 10am In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (Sudbury Chapter), Northern Cancer Research Fund or Right to Life.-11/26/2003-ID3048646
